AUSTIN, Texas — A controversial data center campus is moving forward in Taylor after the City Council unanimously approved an agreement with developers last week.
The 664-acre Taylor Technology Campus is being developed by Big Watt Digital and PowerHouse Data Centers. A study commissioned by the developers estimates the project could generate $1.38 billion in tax revenue for Taylor over 20 years, along with nearly 19,350 temporary construction jobs.
The agreement also includes $28.2 million in community investments, a closed-loop cooling system using reclaimed water, and limits on noise and building setbacks.
