What does a man who’s been dancing and singing for several hours in front of thousands of people want most at the end of the night? Apparently it’s a smashburger by way of Bun B.
Usher, aka Usher Raymond, aka the Dallas-born superstar currently on The R&B Tour with Chris Brown, was spotted after his Reliant Stadium show Friday night at Trill Burgers’ original location on Shepherd Drive in Houston. In a video Usher posted as an Instagram reel, which has since been re-posted many times over, the singer is seen rocking a tequila-sunrise-style Craig Biggio Astros jersey and a few heavy chains while twirling and dancing on the Trill Burgers floor to the Notorious B.I.G.’s 1997 hit “Hypnotize.”
The camera then pans over to see a Trill picnic-style table filled with burgers, soft-drink cups and what looks to be a tequila bottle. Oh, and there’s Trill Burgers co-owner Bun B sitting on a table in a jean jacket and red Nike kicks. The camera then reveals Bun’s having a conversation with super-producer and industry legend Jermaine Dupri, who’s been working with Usher for 30 years.
Bun B told Chron he originally was looking to feed Usher and Dupri from kitchens at Reliant, but that was planned for Saturday night, and there were no burgers available after the show ended Friday.
“Once Usher and Jermaine realized there were no budgers available after the show on Friday, they hightailed it to the Shepherd location to catch it before it closed,” Bun B told Chron via text. “So we made the staff there aware they’d be arriving and to allow them into the dining room, which is typically closed by then.”
Bun said the duo arrived around 11:50 p.m., with staff “happy to feed them.” Bun joined once he heard they were headed that way.
“I was halfway home but turned back and met them there,” Bun said. “Great ending to a great night.”
The Trill Burgers visit wasn’t the only time Usher and Bun B were spotted together Friday night. Bun came out on stage to perform the UGK collaboration with Outkast “International Player’s Anthem (I Choose You),” and Jay-Z’s “Big Pimpin'” with Usher. Slim Thug joined the pair onstage and performed Mike Jones’ “Still Tippin’.” On night two, Houston-born rapper and singer Don Toliver showed up to perform.
Usher and Brown spent two nights at Houston’s Reliant Stadium for the R&B Tour, which began in June in Denver and includes more than 50 shows through the end of the year.
The duo are heading next to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., before a five-night stay at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Usher and Brown are slated to return to Houston for a pre-Thanksgiving show Nov. 24 at Reliant, a few weeks before ending the tour in Tampa, Fla.
