LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Lubbock Christian Eagles (5-1) are coming off of a blowout win over Corum Deo Academy winning 51-7. With that performance, they were named this week’s KCBD End Zone Team of the Week.
The Eagles gained some momentum in the late stages of the first half as they caused a Corum Deo turnover and turned that into points. Lubbock Christian would go on to rush for over 400 yards on the evening as they dominated the line of scrimmage throughout the remainder of the game.
The reigning state champions also have a new head coach this year after Chris Softley left to become the head coach at UT Permian-Basin. Head Coach Sam Collins has his team in prime position to go for a repeat when their playoff run starts in a few weeks.
The Matadors will look to continue their fast start to the 2026 season with a game against Andrews set for Friday, October 16. This is the first time these two teams have played against each other on the gridiron.
