Head football coach Scott Stewart shared his thoughts on the defensive performance saying, “and we needed a spark at that moment. You know, kind of got the momentum on our side. The defense played well.” “They play hard, and they took the opportunity to score. And we did,” the coach Stewart said. “I think we kind of let some get away from us. We dropped a couple picks that we could have had, and I think we could have scored, but, you know, they played well.”

Cooper also scored on offense on a 6-yard run by Tayden Bender, but nine penalties made it harder for the Cougars to maintain momentum.

“We’ve got to clean up some penalties offensively. I think that’s the biggest thing coming out of Friday. We shot ourselves in the foot a lot,” he said. “Not taking anything away from Lubbock Cooper. They had a good game plan, and they controlled the ball like they wanted to and kind of controlled the tempo.”

Cooper heads to Legacy Friday to take on Memorial.
