WASHINGTON (TNND) — Former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and country singer Kacey Musgraves traded jabs on the social media platform, X, about the upcoming Senate race in Texas.

Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico attended one of Musgraves’ concerts. She shared pictures on social media of the two of them smiling together at the concert.

Noem responded in a post that said, “I’ll take @ellalangleymsic over Kacey Musgraves any day,” referencing another country music singer. “And if I’m choosin’ Texas, I’ll take Ken Paxton over James Talarico.”

Ella Langley’s song “Choosin’ Texas” has been topping charts for the last few months.

Musgraves responded to Noem and said “I don’t think you have a dog in this fight, but if you did you would have shot it.”

The reference was to Noem saying she killed her 14-month-old dog in her book published in 2024 titled “No Going Back.” She described the dog as dangerous.

Langley appeared to untag herself from Noem’s post, according to The Hill newspaper.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Talarico are facing each other in the upcoming Senate race which is very close, according to polls.

President Donald Trump has called for a debate between Talarico and Paxton, even though Talarico has agreed to do a debate but Paxton has not.
