Fort Worth Country Day head football coach Keith Burns has resigned, Country Day athletics told the Star-Telegram Tuesday.

Country Day athletics issued the following statement to the Star-Telegram:

“Coach Keith Burns resigned, and it would not be our place to speak for his reasoning. We are grateful for the years of leadership with our team. We have named Offensive Coordinator, TJ Millweard, the Interim Head Coach for the remainder of the season.”

Country Day has a 4-3 overall and 3-1 record in Southwest Preparatory Conference’s Class 3A.

The Falcons played Friday, Oct. 9, falling 51-12 to Arlington Oakridge. They’ll play their first game with Millweard as interim coach Friday at San Antonio TMI Episcopal.

Burns was hired at Country Day in 2021. He has over 35 years of coaching experience with stints at the high school, college and NFL levels.

As a special teams coach for the Oakland Raiders (now Las Vegas), Burns unit set a record for blocked punts. At Arkansas in 1998, he was a finalist for the Broyles Award, given to college football’s top assistant.

Before his time at Country Day, he served as UTEP’s Senior Director of Recruiting and Player Personnel and safeties coach.

During his run with Country Day, Burns tallied a 31-21 overall record. His crowning achievement came in 2025, when he led the team to a 5-0 district run and a title game appearance.
