AUSTIN, Texas — Power has been fully restored at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport after a partial outage affected the Barbara Jordan Terminal and delayed flights Tuesday evening, airport officials confirmed.

In a final update issued at 8:08 p.m., airport officials said power had been restored throughout the airport property and operations involving airlines, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Austin Aviation and other airport operators were returning to normal.

The outage began around 5:18 p.m., according to the Austin Energy outage map, and affected portions of the Barbara Jordan Terminal.

Airport officials said the outage disrupted several systems, including airline ticket counters, forcing airlines to adjust schedules for arriving and departing flights.

In an earlier statement to CBS Austin, airport officials said many flights had been delayed but they were not aware of any cancellations at the time.

TSA screening and baggage claim remained operational during the outage, according to the airport.

Most affected airport systems began coming back online around 6:40 p.m. as Austin Energy and airport crews worked to restore power.

The Austin Energy outage map previously showed 18 affected customers and an estimated restoration time of 9:38 p.m. However, airport officials confirmed power was fully restored before that estimate.

The cause of the outage was listed as under investigation.

Although airport operations are returning to normal, travelers are encouraged to continue checking their flight status with their airlines, particularly those departing from or arriving at AUS Tuesday evening.
