The airport urged travelers to check their flight status as the outage affected arrivals and departures.
AUSTIN, Texas — Power has been restored at Austin airport’s main terminal after an outage on Tuesday evening impacted operations and caused flight delays.
According to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, a partial outage impacted parts of the Barbara Jordan Terminal, including baggage claim and the ticketing hall.
By around 7 p.m., the airport said TSA was open and operational, and baggage claim was back up and running. Other systems such as airline ticket counters were starting to come back online.
All terminal power was restored by 7:25 p.m. Some areas such as the Blue Garage and airport administration building were still being worked on, but were operating on backup generators. Parking was not affected. By 8:10 p.m., full power was restored, including at the Blue Garage and admin office.
The airport said travelers should check their flight status as airlines have had to delay both arriving and departing flights in response to the outage.
Teams from the airport and Austin Energy are on the scene.
According to Austin Energy’s map, the outage began around 5:18 p.m.
The airport currently has 15 active construction projects in various stages. Airport officials did not say if the cause of the outage was related to those projects.
