AUSTIN, Texas — A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle on State Highway 71 near Austin-Bergstrom International Airport early Wednesday morning, according to Austin-Travis County EMS.
The crash was reported at about 5:54 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the 1600 block of East SH 71, near Brandt Drive, ATCEMS said.

Medics attempted to resuscitate the person, an adult, but they were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation, two westbound lanes are closed and one remains open.
Drivers should expect delays in the area.
