LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock Area United Way will host its ninth annual United We Read campaign on Thursday, Oct. 15.
More than 400 volunteers will read to more 3,700 students across the South Plains, celebrating literacy and the power of community. This includes Lubbock ISD, Frenship, Lubbock-Cooper, Shallowater, Abernathy, New Deal, Idalou, Roosevelt and Southland ISDs.
This year’s featured book is Say Something! by Peter H. Reynolds, an inspiring story that encourages children to discover the many ways they can make their voices heard and make a difference in the world.
Each participating student will receive a copy of the book, along with a reading guide to accompany the story and United Way’s service guide connecting families to local community resources.
