“Parking went drastically up. So if you’re here for a long-term or even a few more minutes, it’s going to cost you a lot of extra dollars,” said Todd Engles, a rideshare driver feeling the squeeze.

“It’s kind of crazy. Because it using a credit card, it’s actually tripled the price,” he explained.

Engles drives to the airport a couple of times a week since he’s a rideshare driver. He says these new rates are adding up quickly, and it’s coming out of his pocket.

“But if you’re in the airport for like you’re talking about earlier for extra minutes, well, it’s not a dollar anymore. It could be 3, 4 or 5, 6. I’ve seen it up to $9 where I’ve been in the airport. Before now, it’s a lot higher,” he said.

The last parking rate increase was in 2024.

In this month’s hike, airport officials cited inflation and higher costs for materials and labor as the reasons. They also pointed to major road improvements and building new bridges and terminal exits.

“What is crazy is the roads in here aren’t that great. I mean, they’re crumbling, and there’s rebar showing,” Engles said.

Like everything else airport-related, planning can save stress and money. Booking parking online before arriving can cut the cost by 50%.
