State Rep. Salman Bhojani will seek to keep his seat for the second time since he was elected to the legislature.
Voters will decide between the Democratic incumbent and Republican challenger JP Woodruff for the Texas House District 92 seat this November.
The seat covers parts of north, central and west Arlington, Euless, Bedford and Hurst.
Bhojani, an attorney and real estate professional, is a former Euless council member. When he was elected to that seat in 2018, he became the first person of color to serve in an elected position in the city.
He was elected to the legislature in 2022, defeating Republican Joe Livingston with 48% of the vote. He then ran unopposed in 2024.
Woodruff, an Arlington native, served as senior vice president of Titan Oil and Gas, founded two oil companies and later expanded into renewable energy through Best Way Solar LLC, according to his campaign website.
He also founded Revival Remnant Ministries, where he preaches. The ministry has amassed roughly 580,000 followers on Facebook and 50,000 subscribers on YouTube.
Woodruff reached the election after defeating Joseph Robinson in the March primary election with roughly 67% of the vote.
In his Fort Worth Report candidate survey response, Bhojani said his top priorities include affordability and property tax relief, public education funding, and artificial intelligence and technology policy. He was not available for an interview prior to publication.
Bhojani emphasized his votes on policies that help with affordability, like property tax relief and multifamily housing deregulation, adding that he wants to expand Medicaid in the state.
“Affordability is not an abstract policy issue. It is the conversation happening at kitchen tables across HD-92 every single night. And it will remain my top priority,” Bhojani wrote.
He has also taken specific aim at regulations for data centers, saying the state should not subsidize them and that cities should have adequate ability to regulate the impact of the centers.
“Data centers power the artificial intelligence economy, and getting this policy right means balancing that extraordinary opportunity against the safety, security, and quality of life of all Texans,” Bhojani wrote. “That balance is achievable, but only if we set the right conditions from the start rather than giving away the store to get here.”
Woodruff’s priorities include property tax relief, election security and free speech protections, according to his website. Woodruff’s team did not respond to the Report’s interview request.
On immigration and H-1B work visas, Woodruff’s website says he supports “employment visa policies that address workforce needs while following immigration laws and considering their impact on U.S. workers and employers.”
Bhojani has largely outraised and outspent his opponent in the past few months.
Between July 30 and Sept. 24, Woodruff raised $300 and spent roughly $144, according to his campaign finance report.
In the same time frame, Bhojani raised roughly $13,000 and spent roughly $48,000. He has roughly $193,000 in cash on hand, according to his campaign finance report.
