EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — La Paz Faith Memorial & Spiritual Center will hold a remembrance ceremony Saturday for about 150 people whose cremated remains have gone unclaimed.
The National Cremation Placement Day ceremony is scheduled for 4 p.m. Oct. 17 at 1201 N. Piedras in El Paso.
The remains will be placed at La Paz Faith’s columbarium in Anthony, Texas, according to the organization.
La Paz Faith is organizing the event with Perches Funeral Homes. Bishop Jesus Ibarra will officiate.
“Every life has value, and every individual deserves dignity in death,” Perches Funeral Homes CEO Salvador Perches said in the release.
La Paz Faith said it hopes to make the effort a communitywide initiative and invited funeral service providers to take part in 2027.
The organization also welcomes inquiries from families and community groups seeking a final resting place for cremated remains.
The ceremony is open to the public.
