Attention Wise County cyclists, the Texas Department of Transportation wants your feedback on the development of the Fort Worth District Bicycle Plan.
TxDOT is developing a bicycle plan that includes Wise County. Pictured above is a cyclist preparing for the Eighter from Decatur Bike Rally last month. Mack Thweatt/WCMessenger
According to a TxDOT press release, the plan will identify gaps in the existing bicycle network and prioritize improvements along state-maintained roadways throughout the Fort Worth district, which includes Wise, Tarrant, Parker, Jack, Palo Pinto, Erath, Hood, Johnson and Somerville counties.
To participate click here, or visit txdot.gov and search “Fort Worth District Bicycle Plan.”
Residents can review proposed bicycle routes, recommended bikeway functions and corridor priorities through an online interactive map. Public feedback will help guide the plan’s final recommendations and future bicycle improvements.
The public comment period is open now. The deadline to provide input is Nov. 6.
A draft of the plan is expected to be available for public review and comment in 2027.
Individuals needing translation services or accommodations to participate can contact TxDOT at 214-535-7261 or elizabeth.jones@txdot.gov at least five business days before the comment deadline.
