EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — The Texas Department of Public Safety is asking the public for new information about the 1995 murder of Celia Loya, whose body was found in her east El Paso home.
The reward for information leading to an arrest has increased to $6,000.
The higher reward is available only for tips submitted before the next Texas Rangers cold case is featured.
Loya, 30, called her colleagues on Feb. 7, 1995, to say she would be late to work, but she never arrived. Her husband went to their home on Lake Champlain Street after he could not reach her and found her body on the bathroom floor.
Investigators said Loya had been severely beaten and died from blood loss caused by blunt-force injuries to her head and body.
Signs of a struggle were also found in the living room.
The El Paso Police Department and Texas Rangers have followed leads, interviewed people and examined evidence, but no arrests have been made.
DPS says investigators are interested in information about Loya’s activities and whereabouts before her death, anyone who may have seen her that morning, and any suspicious activity near the home. The agency’s case page lists the homicide as unsolved.
People seeking the reward must submit tips through the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477) or online.
