DALLAS (KDAF) — Cairo, Egypt, is the cheapest international destination to visit from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, according to new research from Nomad eSIM.
A week-long trip to Cairo costs approximately $1,176 per person, combining round-trip economy flights with seven nights of average travel expenses.
The research evaluated 50 destinations worldwide by combining economy airfare from DFW with local accommodation, food and activity costs. Despite the flight distance, Cairo proved less expensive overall than destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean due to low local expenses of $217 for seven nights.
The study highlights how the cheapest airfare does not always translate to the lowest total vacation cost. For example, Cancun, Mexico, offered the cheapest flight among analyzed locations at $410, but seven nights of destination expenses totaled $1,127, bringing the overall trip cost to $1,537. Tulum, Mexico, was the second-cheapest Latin American destination at $1,667 per person.
In Asia, Bangkok, Thailand, was the cheapest destination from Dallas at $1,649 per person, which includes a $949 flight and $700 in local costs. Bangkok’s lower destination expenses made it cheaper overall than Bali, Indonesia, at $1,797 and Phuket, Thailand, at $2,042.
San Juan, Puerto Rico, ranked as the cheapest Caribbean trip from DFW at $1,801 per person, supported by a $275 round-trip flight and $1,526 in destination expenses. Montego Bay, Jamaica, followed as the second-cheapest Caribbean destination at $2,355.
