Lake Highlands-based Ballet North Texas (BNT) will open its 2026-27 season with Changeling, an atmospheric fall repertory program beginning Oct. 23.

Centered on the return of Sam Jones’ Changeling, the program draws inspiration from a world where identity shifts, illusion takes hold and nothing is quite as it seems, Executive Artistic Director Nicolina Lawson said in a statement.

“We’re exploring everything from alternative rock and unconventional movement to the seven deadly sins, emotional suppression and the challenges that shape our relationships and our perception of the world,” Lawson said.

The program features four works: Lie Within Crimson, Confessions by Michelle Fricker, I Buried Her in the Dark by Alayna Wong and Jones’ Changeling. Together, the pieces challenge audiences to consider what they choose to reveal and what they keep hidden, Lawson said.

The program opens with Lie Within Crimson, which pairs ballet with alternative rock and explores movement beyond traditional conventions. Next, Confessions examines the seven deadly sins and the behaviors people knowingly or unknowingly engage in. I Buried Her in the Dark explores emotional suppression in an intimate setting, while Changeling takes audiences into the unknown, Lawson said.

“When I started putting this program together, I didn’t want four ballets that looked or felt the same,” Lawson said. “That’s actually one of the things I enjoy most about mixed repertory. You have an opportunity to show audiences how incredibly diverse ballet can be.”

Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, and Saturday, Oct. 24, at Moody Performance Hall, 2520 Flora St. Tickets are available online.

Changeling kicks off BNT’s 2026-27 season, which will continue in February with Artemis, a new ballet inspired by Greek mythology and choreographed by Natalie Anton.

BNT will also present a new production of Swan Lake to mark the ballet’s 150th anniversary choreographed by Lawson. Sleeping Beauty will close out the season.
