SAN ANTONIO – Something big has arrived at Morgan’s Wonderland, and it’s about to help transform how people of all abilities get around the sprawling Northeast Side campus.

A massive 900,000-pound tunnel boring machine from Elon Musk’s The Boring Company arrived Wednesday at Morgan’s Inclusion Campus, marking a major milestone in plans to build a nearly mile-long underground transportation tunnel.

The machine, known as Prufrock-5, will be used to construct the Morgan’s Inclusion Tunnel, a project designed to make traveling between different parts of the campus safer, easier and more accessible.

The tunnel will allow visitors to move around the campus while avoiding traffic and exposure to extreme heat, cold, rain and other challenging weather conditions.

Morgan’s Inclusion shared photos of the enormous machine’s arrival on social media, celebrating the next step in the project.

“Something BIG has arrived at Morgan’s!” the organization wrote on Instagram.

The arrival marks The Boring Company’s first project in Bexar County, bringing Musk’s tunnel-building technology to San Antonio.

While the equipment is now on site, actual tunnel construction has not yet begun. Morgan’s officials said work is expected to start once the project receives final permitting approvals.

The nearly mile-long tunnel is part of Morgan’s ongoing efforts to expand accessibility throughout its campus, which includes Morgan’s Wonderland, the world’s first theme park designed with accessibility and inclusion at its core.

The nonprofit organization operates seven businesses centered on accessibility and inclusion across approximately 300 acres of property.

Morgan’s has welcomed more than 3 million visitors from all 50 states and more than 120 countries.

For Morgan’s, the arrival of Prufrock-5 represents another step toward creating an environment where physical limitations and challenging weather conditions don’t prevent visitors from enjoying everything the campus has to offer.

No construction completion date has been announced.
