The Dallas Cowboys will depart from Dallas-Fort Worth Airport on Saturday afternoon to head north to take on the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night, and they will do so with two players already ruled out and four more listed as questionable.
Cornerback Cobie Durant will miss his fourth consecutive game and backup offensive tackle Drew Shelton will miss a second consecutive game with hamstring injuries, as both were ruled out on Friday.
Even though head coach Brian Schottenheimer said on Friday that linebacker DeMarvion Overshown is a “long shot” to play with a hamstring injury of his own, he was officially listed as questionable after logging limited participation in back-to-back practices this week. He has missed four games since suffering the injury in Week 1.
Trade acquisition cornerback Joey Porter Jr. has been battling an ankle injury that limited him in practice on Wednesday and Friday. He was a full participant on Thursday. Fellow cornerback Ameer Speed has been battling a knee issue this week, but he was able to log back-to-back limited practices to finish the week. Both are officially listed as questionable.
Rotational rookie defensive tackle LT Overton popped up on the injury report on Friday with a foot injury that prevented him from practicing. He is also listed as questionable.
Six players were listed on the injury report this week that all logged full practices throughout the week and do not carry a designation going into Sunday night: offensive tackle Tyler Guyton (back), safety Alijah Clark (hamstring), outside linebacker James Houston (shoulder), wide receiver CeeDee Lamb (thigh), cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. (knee) and guard Tyler Smith (thumb).
Four players out for Green Bay
A quartet of players will not play for the Packers on Sunday night, as defensive tackle Jonathan Ford (calf), defensive tackle Javon Hargrave (achilles), wide receiver Skyy Moore (ankle) and cornerback Benjamin St-Juste (hamstring) were all ruled out on Friday.
Defensive tackle Jordon Riley is working his way off the injured reserve list with an achilles injury, but he was ruled doubtful to be activated ahead of Sunday night.
Five more players were listed as questionable, as defensive tackle Anthony Campbell (ankle), rookie cornerback Brandon Cisse (hip), interior offensive lineman Jacob Monk (quad), guard Aaron Banks (knee/toe) and wide receiver Savion Williams (ankle) will all be gametime decisions. Williams will need to be activated off injured reserve on Saturday to have a shot at playing.
Four additional players were listed on the injury report this week but do not carry a designation into Sunday night: cornerback Keisean Nixon (groin), edge Lukas Van Ness (shoulder), safety Evan Williams (illness) and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt (ankle).
Will Micah Parsons play vs. Cowboys?
While the Micah Parsons return was something that was certainly on the table when this game was scheduled back in May, the five-time Pro Bowler has yet to return to practice as he continues to heal from a torn ACL he suffered last December.
Green Bay has notoriously been conservative with injury timelines on significant issues like ACL tears, and the Parsons situation is not being treated any differently.
He will not be activated in time for Sunday night’s game and will instead be watching his current and former team square off from the sideline. He is expected to return in early November.
