Homecoming activities underway
Blayne Beal, head of events for Texas Tech, said homecoming activities began Monday and have continued throughout the week.
“Homecoming is just a really special time at Texas Tech, and we got off to a great start on Monday, and we’ve had activities going on all week,” Beal said. “It’s just a really good opportunity for our alumni to come back to campus and to experience all the great things that we’ve done here on campus in the last year.”
Beal said this year’s celebration will look and feel different around Urbanovsky Park.

Security screening and bag policy
“We do have a gated perimeter around the venue and so all of our guests will have to go through our security screening upon entry to the venue,” Beal said. “So we will have a clear bag policy in effect, the same bag policy if it’s in effect when you go to a football game or a basketball game. And we also have a list of prohibited items which you cannot bring to the venue.”
Bags that are not clear will not be allowed into the venue. Prohibited items include food, drinks, alcohol, cigarettes, vapes, guns, fireworks, animals, cameras, coolers and tortillas to throw.
Parking restrictions
Parking will be limited to certain areas to prevent vehicles from being towed.
“So all of our guest parking will be located on the west side of the arena,” Beal said. “So if you’re used to coming to a concert or a basketball game here at the United Supermarkets Arena, it’ll be the same similar parking areas for this concert. So everything on the west side of Indiana will be open and available for folks to use.”
Beal said the measures are intended to allow guests to have a safe experience.
