Plenty of Fort Worth-area teams made some noise Friday night.
Here are five takeaways from the action:
Arlington Martin stays undefeated with rout of Bowie
This isn’t the same old Arlington Martin team.
The Warriors (7-0, 4-0) are cruising through District 3-6A. Their path of destruction includes Arlington Bowie, the back-to-back reigning district champion. The Warriors captured a 45-20 win over the Volunteers Friday led by running back Javian Jones Priest, who found the end zone five times.
An uncharacteristic stretch during the 2024 and 2025 seasons is well behind them, as the Warriors are playing some of the best football in the Fort Worth-area. They’ll look to claim the district’s top playoff seed, ending the season against Arlington Lamar, Arlington and Granbury.
“Proud of our boys,” Martin linebacker coach Mike Evans wrote on X. “They’ve earned every win with commitment, grit and brotherhood. The #BlackTeam is back in charge! On to the next! #MartinU.”
The Warriors refer to themselves as the Black Team, a nod to their uniforms that represents their unity as a team.
Aledo builds momentum, downs Arlington
Aledo’s offense has found a groove.
The Bearcats (4-3, 3-1 District 3-6A) were firing on all cylinders in a strong 42-28 victory over Arlington Friday. Aledo didn’t score in the fourth quarter but easily maintained a sizable lead.
Aledo started fast, jumping out to a 35-7 halftime lead and led 42-7 early in the fourth quarter.
The Bearcats haven’t quite met their typical high standards in their first season in Class 6A, but Friday’s win was a small step toward the usual Bearcat dominance. The best sign for Aledo is an offense that looks like its heavily improved. To close the regular season, Aledo will face Weatherford, Sam Houston and Arlington Lamar.
Euless Trinity still a clear district title favorite
Euless Trinity is cruising to a district title.
The Trinity Trojans thoroughly dominated Irving Nimitz Friday, claiming a 49-3 win. Trinity is 5-2 on the season and 4-0 in district play.
Trinity hasn’t claimed a district title in head coach Aaron Lineweaver’s tenure as head coach, which began in 2022. A 24-17 win over South Grand Prairie in Week 6 made the Trojans heavy favorites, and they’re capitalizing on the opportunity, trouncing all other opponents by 45 or more points.
After a 35-10 loss to Austin Westlake and a 31-7 loss to Aledo, Trinity has taken care of business against relatively easy district competition.
North Crowley continues impressive season
Ahead of the season, North Crowley was expected to make some noise.
Still, the Panthers have leaped above all expectations, establishing themselves as one of the best teams nationwide in head coach DeMarcus Harris’ first year at the helm. North Crowley (7-0, 4-0) demolished Mansfield Lake Ridge 76-35 Friday to stay undefeated.
Now, fans are wondering if North Crowley is the best team in Texas, with Allen also in the conversation. Those questions may remain unanswered as Allen would head to the Class 6A Division I playoff bracket, while North Crowley is likely to head to Class 6A Division II, if Duncanville and Waxahachie make the playoffs as expected.
Mansfield Timberview plays Joshua close
Joshua gave Mansfield Timberview its most competitive game of the season.
That comes as a huge surprise, as Joshua held a 3-3 overall and 0-3 district record ahead of the contest. The Wolves managed to remain undefeated, picking up 36-26 victory over the Owls.
The Wolves started slow against Arlington Seguin in Week 7 but still managed a dominant 63-14 win. They’ve beaten every district opponent, except Joshua, by 47 or more points. Timberview’s crowning achievement this year was a 35-30 win over longtime area power Denton Ryan.
Against Joshua, the Wolves showcased that they’re beatable, despite their stellar stretch. To cement itself as a state title contender among teams like Argyle and South Oak Cliff, Timberview will need to rebuild some of that early season momentum.
