Austin, Texas — Texas leads Florida 10-3 on Saturday at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium as the Longhorns look to bounce back from last week’s 27-24 loss to Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry.
Texas entered the Southeastern Conference matchup at 4-1 after suffering its first loss of the season. The Longhorns held a 17-7 halftime lead against Oklahoma before the Sooners rallied to win on a 47-yard field goal by Tate Sandell as time expired.
Manning entered Saturday with 1,122 passing yards and 10 touchdowns through five games, according to official team statistics. The Longhorns looked to limit mistakes, sustain drives and capitalize on scoring opportunities as they tried to get back on track at home.
Florida entered the game at 4-2 after consecutive losses to Missouri and South Carolina. The Gators featured running back Jadan Baugh, who had rushed for 672 yards through six games. Texas looked to contain Baugh and limit Florida’s ground game to prevent the Gators from finding their rhythm.
Florida quarterback Aaron Philo was listed as questionable with a shoulder injury, leaving Tramell Jones Jr. as a potential replacement. Jones appeared in relief during Florida’s 38-19 loss to South Carolina, throwing for 40 yards and an interception.
The matchup offers Texas an opportunity to regain momentum in conference play following the loss to Oklahoma. The Longhorns looked to protect their home field, limit turnovers and maintain pressure on Florida as the game progresses.
The game is being televised on ABC.
