When the NFL schedule was released in the spring, the thought was that Green Bay defensive end Micah Parsons would miss the first four games, but be ready in time to play the Cowboys.

He is not on the Adrian Peterson torn ACL recovery timeline, because AD was indeed not human.

Parsons is still recovering from the torn ACL that he suffered in mid-December last season, and he has not been cleared for practice.

Parsons will not play against his old team, and his absence from the Packers’ defense only affects the storylines, not the actual game. The Packers were ready for this.

Along with no Parsons, the Cowboys catch another break in their game at Green Bay on Sunday night; the weather forecast calls for mild temperatures, wind, but no rain or snow. It’s Wisconsin in October, and snow is always possible.

Picking Cowboys games is a terrible idea, but here we are.

Week 6: Dallas Cowboys at Green Bay Packers (-1.5). Over/under: 53.5 points

Mac Engel: The Packers have won consecutive games, and three times this season their offense has scored at least 30 points. Neither the Cowboys nor the Packers run the ball well, but Green Bay’s defense is better than Dallas’ defense.

Since defeating the Packers in his rookie season at Lambeau Field, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is 0-5-1 against Green Bay.

Green Bay at home is the safe, wise pick. Give me the Packers, and take the over.

Record against the spread: 1-4; over/under: 4-1

Nick Harris: The Packers have appeared to find some consistency on the defensive side, and their passing attack is defined enough to attack this Cowboys secondary. Give me Green Bay to cover, and give me the over in what could be just another Packers win over Dallas.

Record against the spread: 3-2; over/under: 3-2
