LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Students at Westwind Elementary are staying a bit warmer after the Lubbock Professional Firefighters Association teamed up to give out coats.
This years Coats for Kids drive provided 1,400 coats to students across several schools.
13 years ago, the drive started with firefighters donating money out of their own pockets to go and buy 100 jackets for local students. Now the LPFFA hosts a golf tournament each year to help raise funds to buy more coats.
The Texas Tech Lady Raiders and volunteers from ATMOS were there to help hand out jackets.
