The new site may be on Olive Street by McKinney Avenue, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which lists a renovation project at the address as “Nando’s – Uptown.” The site is listed as a little over 2,000 square feet and would be the second Nando’s location in D-FW, with the first in Addison. Construction could start in January 2027, according to the filing.

A representative for Nando’s declined to comment on the filing. Details in TDLR filings are preliminary and subject to change.

Nando’s menu is heavily influenced by the peri-peri pepper, a close relative of the tabasco pepper that ended up in South Africa by way of Portugal.

Everything on the menu isn’t spicy, however. Customers can choose their spice level from among sauces ranging from mild, or plain, to extra hot. The flame-grilled chicken is served with a variety of sides, including Portuguese rice, sweet potatoes, coleslaw and fries.

Nando’s Addison restaurant is located at 5100 Belt Line Road and features a wrap-around patio, a small bar area and art sourced from South African artists. It opened in December 2023, becoming the first Nando’s in North Texas and the second in the state.

The chain got its start nearly 40 years ago with its first location in Johannesburg, South Africa. Nando’s made its U.S. debut in 2008, in Washington, D.C.

The address for the Uptown location is listed as 2355 Olive Street #130 in the state filing.
