Fort Worth Chisholm Trail High School quarterback Keaton Rose was diagnosed with leukemia this past week and will miss the rest of the season.

Rose was having a standout season with the Rangers, a program on track to make the postseason and compete for the first playoff win in the school’s young history. He played the final game of his career on Sept. 18, passing for 402 yards and three touchdowns, setting a single-game passing yards and completions program record.

To support the Rose family, those interested can contribute to a GoFundMe.

Part of the description of the GoFundMe fundraiser reads:

“Instead of standing alongside his brothers under those Friday night lights, he is now fighting a battle far greater than football. No young man should have to face something like this, and no family should have to carry the weight of this journey alone. As Rose begins his fight against leukemia, his family is facing the emotional and financial challenges of medical treatments and ongoing healthcare expenses.

“Now it’s OUR TURN to stand beside [Rose]. We are asking our entire Ranger Nation players, parents, coaches, students, alumni, friends, and community to come together and help ease the financial burden on Rose and his family. We may not be able to fight this battle for him, but we CAN make sure he never fights alone.

“Rose, the same Ranger family that cheered for you under those Friday night lights is standing behind you now, cheering even louder as you fight this battle. Because football is temporary, but FAMILY is forever.”

Those interested in donating can also buy T-shirts with proceeds going toward the family. The shirts have the following design:

In just four games, Rose passed for 905 yards and 7 TDs.

With Rose unavailable, sophomore quarterback Gabriel Webster played in district games against Azle, Denton and Sherman. Chisholm Trail (4-3, 2-1) will face Saginaw Friday and finish the season against Fossil Ridge and Denton Ryan as it looks to post its third consecutive and total winning season in program history.
