The temple will be built on a 6.4-acre site located at the northeast corner of Northern Pass Drive and Paseo del Norte Blvd., El Paso, Texas. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 22,300 square feet.
This will be the 10th temple in Texas. The state is home to approximately 400,000 members of the Church, meeting in more than 750 congregations.
The El Paso Texas Temple was announced in October 2024.
Dedicated temples in Texas are located in Dallas, Houston, Lubbock, San Antonio and McAllen.
Temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints differ from meetinghouses or chapels where members and friends of the Church meet for Sunday worship services. Each temple is considered a house of the Lord where Jesus Christ’s teachings are reaffirmed and His power enables families to be united for eternity. In the temple, Church members can seek peace and guidance, learn more about the purpose of life and make covenants to follow Jesus Christ and serve their neighbor.
