A man was fatally struck by a car early Monday while crossing a street in Arlington, police said in a news release.
Officers responded about 6:30 a.m. to the 2600 block of Matlock Road, near Matlock Centre Circle, after reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a pickup truck, police said.
When officers arrived, they found the man lying unresponsive in the roadway. The man, who did not have a photo ID on him, died at the scene, police said.
Investigators determined the man was trying to cross Matlock Road without a crosswalk when he was struck by a Nissan Frontier traveling northbound, according to police.
The driver who struck the pedestrian remained at the scene and cooperated with police. He won’t face any criminal charges in connection with the crash, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the man who died after next of kin have been notified.
Arlington police reminded pedestrians to always use traffic lights or dedicated crosswalks when crossing a street, especially at night or during low-visibility conditions, according to the release.
