HARLINGEN, TEX. — The arena’s spotlights reflected off Eric Flores’s silver watchband as he walked to the lectern to address the Republican midterm convention in Dallas in September. “Good afternoon, patriots,” Flores told the cheering crowd. “I’m proud to be your Republican nominee for Texas’s 34th Congressional District — a district that starts at the Rio Grande River and runs all the way to the Corpus Christi Bay.”
