The Houston Airport System‘s first Flavor Fest will allow non-travelers to sample airport cuisine for a cause, per an Oct. 16 announcement.
What to expect
The festival will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 10 at William P. Hobby Airport (HOU), and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 17 at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). Tickets cost $30 per person, and no flight or boarding pass is required for attendees as both events will take place in pre-security areas.
Per the announcement, the events will feature food and drinks from participating airport restaurants, a live chef competition, People’s Choice voting, live entertainment and retail partner giveaways.
Participating restaurants at HOU include Killen’s BBQ, Common Bond and Velvet Taco, while offerings at IAH include El Tiempo Cantina, The Annie and Little Purse Dumpling Den.
The cause
Proceeds from the two-day food festival will benefit Wings of Compassion, which provides temporary financial aid to employees of the Houston Airport System who are experiencing hardship.

Tickets will also include validated parking. Parking for the HOU event will be in the Blue Garage, while parking for the IAH event will be in the CDE Garage.
