Incumbent Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick made a stop in Corpus Christi for a quick media briefing where he encouraged people to vote early and spoke against Vikki Goodwin, his Democratic challenger.
Patrick’s visit to Sterling Air Service near the Corpus Christi International Airport came on the same day that Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who is also seeking reelection, addressed a crowd at Brewster Street Icehouse in downtown Corpus Christi.
During the briefing, Patrick criticized a social media post made by U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders that endorsed Goodwin for lieutenant governor.
Patrick outlined his track record and priorities for the next legislative session, which include reducing local property taxes and increasing homestead tax exemptions for people under 65.

Another priority he spoke about is increasing teacher pay across Texas. He said the average salary of Texas teachers ranges around $70,000.
At the end of the briefing, Patrick encouraged voters to elect candidates in local races who want to accept state funds to support a desalination plant in Corpus Christi.
