Davis last played on Oct. 29 when the Mavericks faced the Indiana Pacers. The forward exited that game in the first quarter after an awkward landing following a floater. He held his left leg before he walked to the locker room.

The Mavericks later announced that Davis sustained a left calf strain.
It appeared Davis made some progress over the weekend when the Mavericks faced the Grizzlies and Wizards on a back-to-back. He was upgraded to questionable before head coach Jason Kidd ultimately ruled him out.
Kyrie Irving (left knee surgery), Dereck Lively II (right knee sprain) and Dante Exum (right knee injury management) were also ruled out against Phoenix.
