EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — After Monday’s deadly crash, in which a semi’s brakes failed, causing a multi-vehicle crash that killed a man and sent several to the hospital with injuries, City officials are exploring options to try to prevent these tragedies.
On Tuesday, during a press conference, El Paso Mayor Renard Johnson and El Paso Police Department Chief Peter Pacillas announced an initiative they called “Enough is Enough,” as an attempt to prevent runaway semis from causing crashes as they drive through Transmountain.

The initiative wants to inspect large, heavy commercial vehicles to make sure they are safe as they get on Transmountain.
Also, City Rep. Alejandra Chavez proposed an item for Oct. 27’s city council meeting to discuss potential restrictions or alternate routes for commercial traffic.
