Dallas Cowboys kicker and Plano Senior High School alumnus Brandon Aubrey returned to his alma mater Tuesday, Oct. 20, to surprise boys soccer head coach Tex McCullough with a $5,000 grant.

Aubrey visited the school alongside representatives from Reliant and the Cowboys to recognize McCullough through the Cowboys Class Acts powered by Reliant program, which honors North Texas educators for their contributions to students and their communities.

The afternoon celebration included Cowboys mascot Rowdy, Reliant mascot Hugo and a $5,000 check presentation. McCullough was also recognized with a football and custom jersey.

For Aubrey, the visit marked a return to the school district where his athletic career began, long before he became one of the NFL’s most recognizable kickers.

Aubrey graduated from Plano Senior High School in 2013, where he played soccer before continuing his athletic career at the University of Notre Dame. He went on to play professional soccer after being selected by Toronto FC in the 2017 Major League Soccer SuperDraft.

His path to the NFL was unconventional. After his professional soccer career, Aubrey transitioned to football, kicking for the Birmingham Stallions of the United States Football League before signing with the Dallas Cowboys in 2023.

His return to Plano Senior High brought his athletic journey full circle, recognizing a coach at the school where he first developed his skills as a student-athlete.
