Concordia Cemetery is one of the most legendary historical sites in West Texas and it is right here in The Sun City. Not only is it home to some of Americas most infamous outlaws, Concordia is also the same cemetery that has been featured in countless ghost hunter shows including some of the biggest ones that ever aired on TV.

For years, paranormal investigators from all over the country have been searching Concordia Cemetery for signs of the after life, combing over headstones to get a glimpse of The Lady in White or the famous Portal to Hell!!

Now the ghosts and ghouls are always exciting but even MORE exciting is the intense history that lies within the walls of Concordia Cemetery. So many names buried beneath the earth here are the same names that helped to establish El Paso before it was officially El Paso. Powerful political figures, the industry makers that built the businesses that would help the city thrive, soldiers and different religions, different cultures. A deeply diverse history sits in Concordia and I think that is worth celebrating on Halloween!

The Concordia Heritage Association throws different events year round where you can come by and explore the history of the cemetery through both actors and storytellers as well as a simple stroll down the cemetery’s lanes. Every year they have Halloween events and this year is no different! The Annual Concordia Trunk or Treat is back and ready for a Saturday full of costumes and ghouls!

Come on out to Concordia on October 10th from 4pm-9pm and bring your best traditional fit for the Catrina/Catrin costume contest. Plus the event is completely free with lots of free goodies as well as the Best in Show for UTEP Ofrendas! And of course, it wouldn’t be an El Paso event without some live music!

Thomas P. Moad: 1st El Paso Officer Killed In The Line Of Duty

Thomas P. Moad was the first officer killed in the line of duty in the city of El Paso. For years, his misspelled name sat on a dusty plaque until retired officer Harry Kirk shared his story with the world. Now, 140 years later, Moad was given a dedicated monument at Concordia Cemetery and was even bestowed the honor of an official Texas Ranger Cross for his service with The Rangers before officially serving the city of El Paso.
