With early voting underway ahead of the Nov. 3 election, Texans are heading to the polls, and President Donald Trump is urging Republicans to vote for a slate of candidates in the Lone Star State. However, two statewide GOP nominees were notably missing from Trump’s list.
Trump urged “THE GREAT PEOPLE OF TEXAS” to “GET OUT AND VOTE” in a Wednesday night Truth Social post endorsing candidates in several state and congressional races. The list included U.S. Senate nominee Ken Paxton, Gov. Greg Abbott and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick for reelection, Attorney General nominee Mayes Middleton, Comptroller nominee Don Huffines and Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham.
However, the post left out Bo French, the Republican nominee for Railroad Commission, and Nate Sheets, the Republican nominee for agriculture commissioner-both running in major statewide races. Trump initially backed French’s opponent, Jim Wright, in the runoff after the March primary and Sheets’ opponent, Sid Miller, ahead of the primary.

French is running against Democratic nominee Jon Rosenthal and Libertarian Arthur DiBianca. He recently faced bipartisan backlash after posting a photo of South Asian students cheering at a University of Texas football game and suggesting it showed Americans being displaced by foreigners. Both Democratic and Republican critics condemned the post as racist.
Sheets is running against Democratic nominee Clayton Tucker for agriculture commissioner. The two recently clashed publicly after Tucker alleged that a Sheets campaign bus stopped outside his parents’ home and honked its horn.

The French and Sheets campaigns did not immediately respond to Chron’s request for comment Thursday morning. Chron contacted Trump’s office to ask whether French and Sheets were intentionally left off the list or omitted by mistake.
Trump’s post also did not name Republican nominees in statewide races for the Texas Supreme Court or Court of Criminal Appeals. It named GOP candidates in some U.S. House races but not the nominees in eight districts: 7, 16, 18, 20, 29, 30, 33 and 37.
