As families all over Lubbock buy candy and prepare for trick or treaters on Halloween, don’t forget that Texas Tech has sporting events throughout the day.

Football is King

Of course, we can’t talk about Halloween sports without mentioning the spooky football matchup between the Red Raiders and the Arizona Wildcats. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. at Galaxy Stadium, and this is the two teams’ second-ever meeting in the Big 12.

The last time the teams faced each other, Texas Tech came out on top, 28-22, back in the 2024 season.

Tickets to the Texas Tech vs. Arizona Halloween game are still available for purchase.

Before we get to Halloween, the Red Raiders first prepare to extend their undefeated win streak this season to 7-0 as they will face Cincinnati on Saturday, October 24. Kickoff will be at 11 a.m.

Another Texas Tech athletics event happening on Halloween this year is the Ralston/Neufeld Coaches Challenge in men’s tennis. It’s unclear when the exact time will be for this event, but make sure you check the Texas Tech Athletics calendar to stay up to date.

Cross Country on Halloween

The final Texas Tech sports event is the 2026 Big 12 Cross Country Championship, featuring the Red Raiders. Hosted by Oklahoma State at the Greiner Family Cross Country Course, the Big 12 website will have more information as we get closer to October 31.

See? I told you there were other things going on in Lubbock on Halloween besides trick-or-treating and football. It’s just up to you which Texas Tech sport you want to watch.

If you ask me, I may just treat it as a TTU marathon, scrolling through and keeping up with each event as it comes. That is, of course, before ending my day with a pile of candy and an upset stomach: the true Halloween tradition.
