Chef Bruno’s French toast

Lisa Petty

Welcome to the weekend. Whether you’re clocking nine-to-five, cobbling together a few side hustles, or something in between, most of us have been looking forward to this moment since last Monday. And, because nobody should suffer through rubbery eggs (unless they’re home-cooked by a really hot dish), we’re ready to roll with your weekend to-do list.

Read on for a dish fit for Stars Hollow, plus an outdoor market and the return of a fan favorite food truck.

Eat this

Chef Bruno’s Fall French Toast
Knox Bistro, 3230 Knox St., #140

Thick-cut, custard-soaked brioche topped with apples in Calvados caramel, cinnamon, pecans, and Chantilly cream. ($17)

Nothing says autumnal comfort like the classic combo of cinnamon and apples. And, no offense to pies, but we’d argue that the best delivery system for these flavors may be French toast. One forkful of Knox Bistro’s version will prove the point through crisp-edged brioche, crunchy nuts, and caramelized Honeycrisps. Chef Bruno Davaillon adds a splash of French brandy and a generous dollop of cream, and the result is like an edible episode of the Gilmore Girls.

Boho Market and Cousins Maine Lobster at Klyde Warren Park

Sunday, October 25, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
2012 Woodall Rogers Freeway
The Boho Market makes an appearance at Klyde Warren Park every few months, bringing a fresh lineup of local artisans. This time around, expect to find accessibly priced vintage apparel, handmade jewelry, small gifts, and more, timed just right to start ticking off your holiday shopping list. Plus, fan fave Cousins Maine Lobster will be returning to the park’s food truck lineup that day, as well. Talk about a two-fer. Shop first, then roll up for a roll; they’ll be serving until 7:30 p.m.

Oak Cliff Art Walk
900 E. Clarendon Ave.
If you haven’t visited the East Dock yet, where Kuluntu Bakery lives and thrives, this is a great time. This Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. the complex is hosting Oak Cliff Art Walk with activities for the whole family, and food and drinks.
