Southlake Carroll junior outfielder Aiden Choo announced his commitment to Oklahoma on Instagram Wednesday.
“I’m grateful and excited to announce my commitment to the University of Oklahoma to continue my academic and baseball career,” wrote Choo, the son of former Texas Ranger Shin-Soo Choo. “First, I want to thank my family for their endless love, support and sacrifices. Thank you for always believing in me and giving me every opportunity to chase this dream.”
Aiden Choo, now at Southlake Carroll, played for an IMG Academy team in Florida as a sophomore and posted eye-popping numbers. He had a .371 average, a .487 on-base percentage, and flashed some power with five home runs. He also recorded 15 stolen bases with a 100% fielding percentage.
“To my coaches, thank you for pushing me to become a better player and person,” Aiden Choo wrote. “Your guidance and the time you’ve invested in me helped make this possible. To my friends and teammates, thank you for having my back, competing alongside me, and making this journey unforgettable.
“Thank you Oklahoma coaching staff for believing in me and giving me an opportunity to be a Sooner. I can’t wait for this next chapter! Boomer Sooner!”
Aiden Choo has a Perfect Game Player Grade of 10, which is the highest available. That grade is used to evaluate a player’s current tools and future projection at the next level.
Southlake Carroll had a down year by its standards in 2026 with a young roster packed with sophomore talent but managed to capture the last playoff seed in District 4-6A to protect a playoff streak started in 1999. The Dragons went on to win a bi-district playoff series.
Southlake Carroll, with five state titles in program history, could return to district and state title contention in 2026 with an experienced roster of rising talent, including Aiden Choo.
Shin-Soo Choo, born in South Korea, spent the last seven years of a MLB career spanning 16 years with the Texas Rangers. He made his only MLB All-Star appearance in 2018 with the franchise. In his career, he had 1,671 hits, 218 home runs and a career .275 batting average.
