Water service has been restored to customers in the Desert Aire water system after flooding from Saturday’s severe weather.

This is according to Sanitation District Manager Robert Colman, who said that the water main break had been repaired and all customers were back in service.

The damage occurred in the Enchanted hills area, specifically near Peppers and Enchanted streets, after heavy rain caused flooding in nearby arroyos.

In a statement sent Saturday evening, Colman said the damage disrupted water service throughout the Desert Aire system, leaving some customers with low water pressure. The system was later shut down until flooding subsided and crews could assess and repair the damage.

By Sunday morning, water flow in the arroyo had subsided, allowing crews to isolate the damaged section of the water line and begin repairs. Water service was restored to customers who were not directly affected by the break while crews worked to repair the damaged main.

The district initially expected repairs to be completed and water service fully restored by 5 p.m. Sunday. However, Colman confirmed at 10:44 a.m. that the main had been repaired and all customers were back in service.

However, the system needs time to purge air and disinfect, and customers should have full water pressure by late Sunday afternoon.

Officials continue to urge residents to use caution around flooded roadways and never drive through standing or moving water.
