Saint Bernard may have started as a Dallas specialty ski shop in 1978. They still stock snow gear, though the Texas ’boutique’ department store is more of a destination for occasion dressing now.

“Our little tagline is ‘Where you go before you go,’” said Ashleigh Goyer, wife of Saint Bernard CEO Charlie Goyer. “We’re the perfect spot to dress somebody whether they’re going to ski, or to a baby shower, or out to dinner. Our customer wants to be comfortable and cute for a soccer game or a fun lunch.”

Last week, over dinner at the Frenchie Boutique Hotel, the occasion in question was Round Top. Saint Bernard’s first Round Top. After years of gentle coaxing, Houstonian Lyndsey Zorich convinced Goyer and the Saint Bernard team to pop up in the tiny Texas town during the fall antique show for a rather special event: the debut of Love Note, Saint Bernard’s inaugural private label, designed by Zorich, and its subsequent Round Top capsule.

“It never really felt like the right time until now that we have this brand,” Goyer said. “Western is so huge right now, and we don’t really see it going anywhere. There’s a mix of vintage and western influence with these rich textiles. Round Top felt like a natural place to launch, because that’s what Round Top has become.”

Zorich approached Goyer in the summer of 2025 about wholesaling her own occasionwear collection, Mason’s Daughter, at Saint Bernard. Courtney Ross, general merchandise manager, fired back with a counteroffer — why not just hire her?

“We were really looking for some partners to private label our company,” Goyer said. “(Zorich) totally understands our customer. She is our customer.”

Today, Saint Bernard carries both Mason’s Daughter and Love Note by Lyndsey Zorich.

“I did a deep dive with their buyers on who their girl is,” Zorich shared. “The Saint Bernard girl is casual. She wants to be in with the trends but not trendy. So we started with a game day edit, then a Round Top edit.”

Goyer agreed, adding that well-dressed fans are no longer wearing University of Texas Longhorn T-shirts from the campus bookstore. They come into the shop asking about something temperature-friendly to wear with cowboy boots.

That’s how Goyer and Zorich’s dinner guests styled their looks, too. The Ginger dress, for example, comes in Aggie maroon and Longhorn burnt orange for college football rivals Texas A&M and UT.

Zorich divulged that she requested the exact Pantone color from the latter university and tested 19 variations with Goyer before finding the correct shade.

“For the game day edit, my research was going to the Texas/OU game with my husband who went to (the university of) Texas,” Zorich said. “I was watching the outfits instead of the game.”

The Ginger dress sold out and has since been re-ordered. So have Love Note’s oversized fringed sweaters.

For the Round Top capsule, Zorich focused on deep pinks and browns that feel feminine for fall. She also designed suede separates, including a maxi skirt with a waistline accent, that will transition into Colorado and ranch wardrobes come the holidays.

“We’ve met so many people that were existing customers. We meet people who just shopped online and were excited to have that in-store experience and people who have never heard of us,” Goyer said of the pop-up at Blue Hills. “They walk in and say, ‘This is Saint Bernard?’ because they remember us as that ski and outdoor store.”

For dinner at the Frenchie, she seized the opportunity to spotlight another first for the company. Goyer and Miron Crosby co-founder Lizzie Means Duplantis introduced the group to Besita, fashion boots priced accessibly at $200-400.

“Lizzie and I go back 20 years; we’ve been best friends since college at TCU,” Goyer said. “We’ve been begging them to do a wholesale line. The Miron Crosby customer is our customer — they wear our dresses with their boots.”

With that, Duplantis stood wearing a Love Note blouse, suede mini skirt and Besita boots to toast the collaborative occasion with a tequila shot.
