Italian restaurant Lusso by Vittorio Di Buglione will open its first location near Roanoke City Hall later this year.
The details
Lusso is the Italian word for luxury, but it’s not a luxury restaurant, said Vittorio Di Buglione, Lusso’s head chef and owner. The name comes from an Italian phrase meaning “we eat really good today” or “the luxury of life.”
The restaurant offers a traditional Italian fare using simple and authentic ingredients, many imported from Italy.
Di Buglione also said there will be tableside experiences, Italian hospitality and a pasta room in the middle of the restaurant where customers can watch pasta being made fresh daily.
“It’s more going to be an experience,” he said. “It’s not going to be the same restaurant for everybody.”
The business moved into the location formerly occupied by Catch 22 and is currently undergoing renovations and licensing.
Meet the chef
Di Buglione started working in Italy when he was 12 years old to help support his family. He went to culinary school, had experiences at three Michelin star restaurants, then moved to Texas to chase more opportunities, he said.
“I decided to come to Texas and make my way up,” Di Buglione said. “I start from the bottom, then I helped a lot of Italian restaurants open and then I decide to open my own.”
