Plano’s Olympic skating champion Amber Glenn and her professional partner Pasha Pashkov played into the theme with an Argentine tango that paid tribute to the film “Black Swan.”
“I want to be the black swan,” Glenn said in the show’s training montage. “I love that embodiment of ‘I don’t care what people have to say, I’m gonna be myself’ because that’s what I have now.”
The duo kept up their strong run of scores by earning a quartet of nines, totaling 36 points. That mark, combined with their 38 a week ago and the fan vote, was enough for Glenn and Pashkov to be safe and advance to the top 8.
“You’re so graceful in everything that you do,” guest judge Shirley Ballas said while noting her skating background. “I totally enjoyed it. Well done.”
The other three judges also offered praise with Bruno Tonioli emphasizing Glenn’s ability to stick to the music very closely. Carrie Ann Inaba spoke highly of Glenn’s intensity during the dance, but added she noticed some tightness. Derek Hough called it a “beautiful, beautiful dance” and characterized some of the specific tango moves as “gorgeous.”
Tyler Cameron and Sharna Burgess, and Jackson Olson and Emma Slater were the two couples eliminated on Horror Movie Night.
“Dancing with the Stars” continues next week with Disney Night, paying tribute to the iconic studio’s Broadway productions. The show will bring in Tony Award winner Cynthia Erivo as a guest judge on a special Monday night edition of the show.
You can watch “DWTS” on ABC and stream it on Disney+ live. The show is also available to stream on Hulu the next day.
