SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio’s Día de los Muertos traditions took center stage Wednesday night as KSAT 12 aired a two-hour special celebrating the 14th annual Muertos Fest.
The special looks back at the three-day celebration, which brought together families, artists, musicians and visitors at Hemisfair from Oct. 23-25 to honor loved ones who have died.
Muertos Fest is one of the nation’s largest free Día de los Muertos celebrations, bringing together music, art and community traditions centered on remembrance.

Celebrating loved ones through art and tradition
One of the festival’s central attractions is its collection of more than 80 handcrafted altars, also known as ofrendas.
Created by families, schools, organizations and artists, the altars honor people who have died through photographs, meaningful objects and personal tributes.
The community altar also allowed visitors to remember their own loved ones by contributing photographs and other meaningful items.
