WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) -The Memorial Lady Mavericks hosted the Lubbock-Cooper Lady Pirates in the bi-district round of the volleyball playoffs.
Memorial got off to a slow start, but Taylor Davis helped get the Lady Mavs going with her second consecutive ace.
Later, Joy Harvey set up Lily Dishman, who finished the play with a kill to give Memorial another point.
Lubbock-Cooper called a timeout, but Memorial continued to build momentum. Landrie Love rose up and hammered a shot for the kill as the Lady Mavs stayed in a groove.
Later in the set, Lizzy Nguyen set up McKayden Birkhead, who found an open spot on the court and put the ball away for another Memorial point.
Memorial went on to defeat Lubbock-Cooper 3-1, earning the program’s first playoff victory and advancing to the area round.
