A bookstore, 2nd & Charles, plans to open a new store in Plano before the end of the year.

In addition to used books, the store buys, sells and trades video games, consoles, movies, CDs and toys and collectibles. Scott Kappler, 2nd & Charles’ executive vice president of operations, said items can be sold and traded for cash or store credit.

“That trade model keeps prices affordable, gives great items a second life and creates a store that feels different every time you walk in,” Kappler said in an email. “It’s a place for readers, gamers, collectors and families to spend an afternoon.”

The new 25,000-square-foot store will be the first 2nd & Charles in North Texas. It is expected to create 30 jobs, Kappler said.

“2nd & Charles thrives where people love to discover things, and the Dallas–Fort Worth area has an enormous appetite for books, entertainment and pop culture,” Kappler said. “We see Plano as a natural first step in North Texas, and we believe the community will embrace a store built around discovery, value and trade.”

The company currently operates three other Texas stores in Beaumont, Lubbock and Conroe.
