The aid is available to eligible residents in 20 counties, including Bexar County.
Liz Ayala, a 2026 flood survivor and member of Rebuild, issued the following statement:
This news is an incredible relief to myself, my family, and my community. Finally, after testifying at dozens of meetings and sharing our story, we will finally be able to take the first step towards recovery.Individual Assistance funding is intended to help people pick up the pieces in the immediate aftermath of a disaster – a moment we are now 100 days past. However, for people who lost everything, there will still be major hurdles to overcome before they are made whole. That is why we need long-term recovery funding. The survivors of the 2025 floods in Texas are still waiting on Congress to pass the funding that will help them rebuild.Because the recovery systems in this country require disaster survivors to become a political force in order to rebuild, that is what we have become. What we have done for Texas, we will do for survivors across the country.
