The Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals will each be without two players for Sunday’s Week 8 matchup at AT&T Stadium. In addition, Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens (shoulder/hamstring) and defensive tackle Kenny Clark (back) are listed as questionable to play.
The Cowboys will be without wide receiver and kick returner KaVontae Turpin and linebacker Dee Winters for the second consecutive week after both suffered injuries in the loss to the Green Bay Packers on Oct. 18. Turpin was hurt on the opening kickoff after taking a hit to his ribcage. While he has participated in warmups and stretching this week at practice, he has been listed as a non-participant. Winters is dealing with an Achilles strain that has yet to see him hit the practice field in any capacity in the past two weeks.
Dallas is expected to turn to rookie undrafted free agent Camden Brown again as a roster activation, although he did not see any offensive snaps in last week’s win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Running back Tyler Goodson handled the kick return duties and some of the gadget plays designed for Turpin in the offense, including taking a first-half jet sweep. Wide receiver Jonathan Mingo will handle punt return duties once again.
At linebacker, the Cowboys debuted a new look with Shemar James Sr. starting next to DeMarvion Overshown in the second level. James handled the green-dot communication responsibilities from the MIKE position, allowing Overshown to play the weak-side spot where he tallied six tackles and an interception. Rookie Jaishawn Barham and second-year Justin Barron are still expected to rotate in.
Three players are working their way back from the injured reserve list and are listed as questionable: safety P.J. Locke, outside linebacker Marist Liufau and defensive tackle Jonathan Bullard. They would need to be activated onto the roster on Saturday to play, and there is one open roster spot. Locke is expected to be the benefactor.
Third-string tight end Luke Schoonmaker is also questionable to play with a groin injury that popped up in Thursday’s practice.
Cardinals missing multiple former first-round picks
Of the last five first-round picks that the Cardinals have made, three will not be playing in this game.
News came down from Arizona head coach Mike LaFleur on Friday that 2025 first-round pick defensive tackle Walter Nolen will miss the game with an ankle injury. From the 2024 class of two first-round picks, wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. was traded to Houston on Oct. 11, but defensive lineman Darius Robinson will play. At left tackle, 2023 first-round pick Paris Johnson Jr. suffered a torn biceps on Oct. 4 and is out for the season.
Also listed as out is starting right guard Jon Gaines, who did not practice this week with an ankle injury, leaving Arizona down two season-starting offensive linemen.
Good news for Arizona, 2026 first-round pick running back Jeremiyah Love is back after a two-game absence for an ankle injury. He carries no designation into Sunday’s game.
Arizona listed three players as questionable to play: offensive lineman Hjalte Froholdt, cornerback Max Melton and safety Andrew Wingard. All three are dealing with knee injuries.
