SAN ANTONIO — Firefighters extinguished a trash fire Friday evening inside a vacant restaurant on the Northeast Side.

The San Antonio Fire Department responded shortly after 6 p.m. to the building near Northeast Loop 410 and Perrin Beitel Road.

Firefighters on scene said the fire started in a restroom, spread to part of the walls, and filled the building with smoke. Firefighters put out the flames, ventilated the building, and worked to ensure its gas and electricity were shut off.

No one was inside, and no injuries were reported. The fire appeared to have started in trash, but its cause has not been determined. Firefighters believe someone may have entered the vacant building, which reportedly once housed an Arby’s.
