AUSTIN, Texas — A man died early Thursday after a driver allegedly ran him over in a Burger King drive-thru in North Austin and then left the scene, police said.

The crash happened at 2:17 a.m. at the restaurant at 9523 N. Lamar Blvd., according to the Austin Police Department.

Police said a caller reported that a man lay down in the drive-thru lane. Employees were setting out traffic cones so drivers would not hit him when a vehicle came through the lane and ran him over, police said.
